Time to lay off the caffeine. I left an interview in Midtown and decided to head down to the Lower East Side to find this shop. For some reason, I just got on a random orange line train and two stops later noticed it was going uptown.

So I got off at Rockefeller center and, like a moron, took the train across the platform. Two stops later, I realized I got on the F train heading towards Queens.

Fortunately, Roosevelt Island only had a single line so I finally took a downtown train.

Upon leaving Lower East Side, I noticed that taking the D train instead of the F would have gotten me closer to my destination.

My mom pronouces shi sounds of Japanese words with see. So when we’re out at a Japanese restaurant I would hear her say su-see (sushi) or sa-see-mi (sashimi), or saabu-saabu (shabu-shabu). I think it’s because she thinks that’s how Japanese people say it (that’s wrong, btw).

Almost all ESL folks mangle the language one way or another. But this is the most bizarre.
